Home Counties Guided Off Road Motorcycle Adventure Tour

If you are just discovering the joys of off-road motorcycling or are looking for a relaxed introduction to getting your tyres dirty then we feel that this tour is absolutely ideal. From the complete off-road novice up to the occasional green laner, this guided off-road motorcycle adventure tour is all about fun without any pressure. It's not motocross, it's not enduro - it's a fun tour around the byways of the Home Counties.

This tour is quite easy going but has plenty of challenges along the way making it ideal for road riders wishing to try their hands at off-road motorcycle trail riding. You will encounter woodland, scrub, gravel, mud, ruts and perhaps even a water crossing or two if you dare! There are also some climbs and descents in places, but nothing that will scare the living daylights out of you! In the winter months it is not uncommon to even encounter some snow which makes things pretty interesting!

As with all of our tours and schools, the use of one of our motorcycles, all protective armour, clothing, fuel and third party motorcycle insurance is provided as standard along with the company of one of our friendly, experienced guides.

Our Home Counties tours are superb preparation for those looking to embark upon a foreign motorcycling adventure such as Enduro Africa or those just looking to participate in a long road trip.

What is the format of the day?

We ask you to arrive at our venue at 09:15am where you will be signed in and kitted up in all of the necessary riding equipment including body armour, boots, helmet etc. There is no need to bring any clothing with you unless it is forecast for heavy rain in which case you may wish to bring along some waterproofs to go over the clothing we supply.

Once we have everyone kitted up we will introduce you to the off-road motorcycle that you will be using for the day and go through some general safety and motorcycle operation points which we do ask you to listen to carefully. We then head out on the guided off-road motorcycle adventure tour!

How long does the tour last?

You arrive at our venue in Hertfordshire at around 9.15am and and should be finished by 4.00pm. Please note that in the event of any hold-ups due to mechanical issues, punctures etc the tour may finish a little later.

What experience do I need to take part?

This tour is aimed mainly at the inexperienced off-road rider (road miles count for nothing!) and those looking for a great day out discovering the countryside from a different perspective. All you need is a full unrestricted motorcycle licence, be aged 21 or over and have plenty of enthusiasm to take part! IMPORTANT - we must point out that people who have not ridden a motorcycle at all for a number of years will struggle on this tour and we would recommend a Level 1 Off Road Motorcycle School instead.

Will I receive any tuition?

We do not run our trail tours as a school, but our guides are always on hand to give helpful and friendly advice and show you how to tackle certain objectives. We want you to get the most possible out of your tour with us and to gain confidence during the day so any questions or tips that you would like answered will be greeted with enthusiasm. You will be surprised just how much your road riding will improve after a day on the dirt with us! At the end of the day we want you to come back for more - perhaps a level 2 off road motorcycle school!

Are there any restrictions?

*You must hold and bring along your full unrestricted motorcycle licence.
*You must be aged 21 or over and in a good state of general health.
Maximum weight is 18st.
Minimum height is 5ft 3in.
We would not recommend this activity if you are pregnant.
You will not be allowed to participate if you are, or suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, recreational drugs or any other illegal substance.
Any physical or mental illnesses should be declared before booking.
Please do not turn up with a hangover!

* These restrictions are dictated by our insurance company and are not flexible.

An important note about the byways we use

Byways are in essence unsurfaced roads and fall under the same rules as standard roads which means you may encounter other users coming in the opposite direction. Other users will include walkers, horse riders and other vehicles so the same care must be taken as on a standard highway. We are restricted to the legal byway network and can not under any circumstances (emergencies accepted) deviate along illegal lanes. Byways are linked together mainly by country roads.
