The Lake District is the ideal choice for off-road novices and intermediates alike who are looking ride in one of the UK's most stunning areas of natural beauty.
As with all of our UK tours, the use of one of our motorcycles, all protective armour, clothing, fuel and third party motorcycle insurance is provided as standard along with the company of one of our friendly, experienced guides.
We can also offer you exclusive use of our guide should you or your party of friends not wish to be mixed in with people unknown to you - this costs just £50 extra flat fee per day.
What does the day include?
The meeting point for this tour is Tock How Farm in High Wray which is just a few minutes drive from Ambleside on the north shore of Lake Windermere. The day begins around 9am where you will be kitted out, introduced to the motorcycles and given a briefing about what to expect during the course of the day as well as a chat about safety - we pride ourselves on giving all of our clients a day to remember in a safe, friendly atmosphere! Once everyone is happy to proceed the tour will begin. You should be on the bikes by 9.30am and there will be as many stops along the way as you require to catch your breath and take in the views. Don't forget your camera! Lunch is normally around 1pm for an hour before you head off again aiming for a 4.30pm finish. Please be aware that finishing times are approximate and you could well be back a bit later depending on progress!
What sort of terrain will we encounter?
This tour is quite unique in the fact that you will be taken out onto our private area first to get a feel for the motorcycles. There are a few hills, grass, mud and a water crossing to contend with to help you get used to the bike moving around underneath you. Once everyone is confirdent to proceed we take to the lanes proper.
The terrain is varied in this area, although there is quite a lot of rock sections to tackle you will also be transversing muddy ruts, packed mud, loose mud and loose gravel.
Will I receive tuition?
We do not run our trail tours as a school, but our guides are always on hand to give helpful and friendly advice and show you how to tackle certain objectives. We want you to get the most possible out of your tour with us and to gain confidence during the day so any questions or tips that you would like answered will be greeted with enthusiasm. You will be suprised just how much your road riding will improve after a day on the dirt with us! At the end of the day we want you to come back for more - perhaps on one of our other tours - even in Spain!
What type of motorcycle will I be riding?
The standard bike for this tour is the Honda CRF230 which is absolutely ideal for those that are new to the world of off-road motorcycling. The seat hieght is lower than that of many full-on enduro bikes and has a user friendly power delivery.
If you would like to upgrade to a Yamaha WR250F (or equivalent) you can do so at an extra charge of £20
Is there any accommodation in the area?
Tock How Farm has one of the best breakfasts I have ever had with equally stunning views from the dinning rooms window! The rooms are very comfortable and there may even be the opportunity to rent the adjacent cottage for larger groups.
There is a huge choice of accommodation a few minutes up the raod in Ambleside where there is a good, lively atmosphere with plenty of pubs and restaurants to choose from.
Is there anything else that I should know?
We would advise that you bring along some warm underclothing, leightweight waterproofs and a dry towel if the weather is looking bleak! It is also useful to carry a rucksack with a bottle of water and a small amount of money for lunch.
None of our tours are to be treated like an enduro race and we ask all clients to respect the environments in which we ride for the benefit of future riders.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE PAYING A BALANCE ON THE DAY, WE DO NOT HAVE FACILITIES TO ACCEPT CHEQUES OR CREDIT CARDS. PAYMENTS MUST BE SETTLED IN FULL BEFORE RIDING COMMENCES.
Please be sure to read our Terms and Conditions before booking.
