Wales is well known as the off-road riders haven in the UK with miles of wonderful trails to explore and plenty of challenges along the way.
As with all of our UK tours, the use of one of our motorcycles, all protective armour, clothing, fuel and third party motorcycle insurance is provided as standard along with the company of one of our friendly, experienced guides.
We can also offer you exclusive use of our guide should you or your party of friends not wish to be mixed in with people unknown to you - this costs just £50 extra flat fee per day.
What does the day include?
The meeting point for this tour is The Lion Royal Hotel in Rhayader. The day begins around 9.15am where you will be kitted out, introduced to the motorcycles and given a briefing about what to expect during the course of the day as well as a chat about safety - we pride ourselves on giving all of our clients a day to remember in a safe, friendly atmosphere! Once everyone is happy to proceed the tour will begin. You should be on the bikes by 9.45am and there will be as many stops along the way as you require to catch your breath and take in the views. Don't forget your camera! Lunch is normally around 1pm for an hour before you head off again aiming for a 4.30pm finish. Please be aware that finishing times are approximate and you could well be back a bit later depending on progress!
What sort of terrain will we encounter?
The terrain that you will encounter is varied and the surroundings simply stunning. A typical day would usually include river crossings, heavilty rutted lanes, gravel sections, rock slabs, boulders and a good old welsh bog which, in the winter months, it an absolute hoot - there will most definately be some bonding on that section when the inevitable happens and someone gets stuck! Be prepared to come back filthy!
Will I receive tuition?
We do not run our trail tours as a school, but our guides are always on hand to give helpful and friendly advice and show you how to tackle certain objectives. We want you to get the most possible out of your tour with us and to gain confidence during the day so any questions or tips that you would like answered will be greeted with enthusiasm. You will be suprised just how much your road riding will improve after a day on the dirt with us! At the end of the day we want you to come back for more - perhaps on one of our other tours - even in Spain!
What type of motorcycle will I be riding?
The weapon of choice for our Welsh tours is the Yamaha WR250 enduro spec motorcycle although from time to time we may supply something equivalent. You will find this bike the best compromise between power and rideability on the lanes of Wales.
Is there any accommodation in the area?
The Lion Royal Hotel is an excellent choice right in the centre of Rhayader, a bustling small town, which has many pubs and restaurants to keep you fueled up!
Is there anything else that I should know?
We would advise that you bring along some warm underclothing, lightweight waterproofs and a dry towel if the weather is looking bleak! It is also useful to carry a rucksack with a bottle of water and a small amount of money for lunch.
None of our tours are to be treated like an enduro race and we ask all clients to respect the environments in which we ride for the benefit of future riders.
We would advise that you bring along some warm underclothing and a dry towel.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE PAYING A BALANCE ON THE DAY, WE DO NOT HAVE FACILITIES TO ACCEPT CHEQUES OR CREDIT CARDS. PAYMENTS MUST BE SETTLED IN FULL BEFORE RIDING COMMENCES.
